Jaryd was born and raised in Inez, Kentucky and graduated from Johnson Central High School in 2008. After high school, he attended Eastern Kentucky University where he earned a B.S. in Speech-Language Pathology. During his time at E.K.U., he also worked as a law clerk for Kirk Law Firm, P.L.L.C. for three summers, which ultimately led to his enrollment and graduation from The University of Kentucky College of Law in 2016.
While at U.K. Law, Jaryd clerked for Franklin Circuit Chief Judge Phillip Shepherd, and earned the C.A.L.I. award (highest grade) in his State Constitutional Law course taught by U.K. General Counsel William E. Thro. He completed his seminar paper under the direction of Professor Sarah Welling, where he examined the good faith exception as applied in Herring.
