Kirk Firm led state with 358 wins in compensation cases

PRESTONSBURG – John Kirk and his Kirk & Crum, PLLC has again been named Kentucky’s “winningest” law firm for work injury cases before the Labor Department, according to a report released yesterday by Kentucky Roll Call, Inc. a Frankfort paper.

Kirk, with offices at Prestonsburg, Lexington and other cities in eastern Kentucky, won or settled 358 workers’ compensation cases for the period from January 1 through December 31, 1994.
Roland Case, a Pikeville lawyer, won or settled 193 cases while Johnnie L. Turner of Harlan won or settled 188 cases during the same period.

Kirk also topped all other Kentucky lawyers in earnings for the same period with $1,681,040. Turner, with $1,175,393, was the only other lawyer to reach the million dollar category.

“That’s what we are about,” John Kirk said. “We work for workers, many of whom – like my dad, Mr. Tom Kirk, and both my granddads – were underground coal miners. These men and women have great courage to do this highly hazardous kind of work and, unfortunately, they sometimes get hurt. When that happens, they need a lawyer in their corner. Fortunately, there are a number of good lawyers that these folks can go to. We think that includes Kirk & Crum, PLLC.”
